Dental Crowns and Bridges

A beautiful smile is one of the best ways to make a memorable first impression. But missing teeth or teeth that are chipped, broken, or poorly shaped can take a toll on your appearance and confidence.

At Heritage Family Dental, our dentists provide high-quality dental crowns and bridges that restore oral health and refresh smiles. When designing these restorations, we focus on preserving teeth and ensuring that all dental work looks and feels natural.

High-Quality, Durable Dental Restorations

Natural-Looking Tooth Crowns

Some reasons we might recommend this type of restoration include:

  • Protect a tooth compromised by extensive decay
  • Support a cracked or fractured tooth
  • Strengthen a tooth after root canal treatment
  • Support dental bridgework
  • Restore a dental implant

Benefits of Dental Crowns and Bridges

Living with decayed, broken, or missing teeth can take a toll on your comfort and confidence. Fortunately, dental crowns and bridges offer a solution that comes with several benefits, including:
Restore Comfortable Chewing
Teeth are designed to work together to allow for efficient chewing. When one is damaged or missing, eating certain foods can be painful or impossible. Restoring a tooth with a crown or bridge allows you to chew comfortably again.
Improve Your Smile's Appearance
Nothing can ruin your smile like a missing or badly damaged tooth. Our durable crowns and bridges are designed to complement your smile and blend seamlessly with the shape, shade, and size of surrounding teeth.
A Long-Term Smile Investment
Our tooth restorations use durable materials like porcelain and zirconia that stand the test of time. When properly cared for with excellent oral hygiene and routine dental visits, crowns and bridges can last 10–15 years or longer.

Bridging the Gap in Your Smile

A fixed dental bridge is custom-crafted to fill the gap in your smile with an artificial tooth called a pontic. The pontic is created to blend seamlessly with your smile and is secured by dental crowns. The bridge is anchored to adjacent teeth for support, resulting in a high-quality restoration that looks natural and provides all the durability needed for chewing.

The Process for Getting Crowns and Bridges

Placing a dental crown is similar to a bridge and is usually completed in two appointments. First, we prepare your natural tooth for the crown, which involves removing a bit of enamel so the crown fits naturally with your smile.

Next, our doctors take highly detailed digital impressions of the tooth used to create the new crown for a perfect fit. Before you leave, we will provide a temporary crown to protect the tooth while a dental lab custom-crafts the final version.

When the final crown is ready, you will return to our office to have it placed. During this appointment, we check the crown for fit, polish it, and cement it securely in place.

Testimonial

Would recommend this practice to everyone.

Madison was amazing. She repaired my tooth with ease, made sure I wasn't in pain all along the way, and worked well with her assistant. I have been a 20+ year patient with her father so I am very excited that the practice will continue with the next generation of Weigle's. Would recommend this practice to everyone!

Frequently Asked Questions

Dental crowns typically last 10–15 years or longer with proper care and maintenance. These durable restorations are a long-term investment in your oral health and appearance giving you many years of use.

Factors influencing crown and bridge longevity:

  • Material quality — Our porcelain and zirconia restorations are crafted for durability
  • Oral hygiene — Thorough daily cleaning significantly extends lifespan
  • Bite forces — Grinding, clenching, or using teeth as tools can compromise durability
  • Location in mouth — Back teeth endure stronger forces than front teeth
  • Professional maintenance — Regular dental checkups help identify early issues

To maximize the lifespan of your restorations, we recommend:

  • Brushing twice daily and flossing carefully around crowns
  • Using a nightguard if you grind or clench your teeth
  • Avoiding chewing ice, hard candy, or opening packages with your teeth
  • Attending regular six-month checkups for professional evaluation

Even with excellent care, restorations may eventually require replacement due to normal wear or changes in your mouth. Regular checkups allow us to monitor your crown and address any concerns before they affect your comfort or function.

Dental Crowns and Bridges Technology

Digital Impressions

Digital impression technology uses optical scanning to create precise 3-D models of teeth and gums without messy conventional impression materials. The process involves a small scanner that captures hundreds of images assembled into an accurate digital model of your mouth.

Heritage Dental uses this technology for crowns, bridges, veneers, Invisalign, and other custom dental work. Patients benefit from a more comfortable experience without gagging on traditional impression material, highly accurate restorations with better fit, fewer adjustments needed, and often faster turnaround times for their dental work since models can be immediately sent to dental labs.
